The Metrology Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the metrology programs.
Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Troubleshoot metrology programs and fixtures for quality and efficiency improvement. - Troubleshoot metrology equipment, including CMM, optical smart scope, optical projector and force measurement equipment.
- Formulate metrology reports for project and production purposes.
- Perform data analysis, including statistical analysis on metrology results.
- Develop and install statistical process control software for metrology data.
- Develop and maintain metrology schedules and capacity planning.
- Develop and install new and revised metrology programs.
- Design and develop new and revised metrology fixtures.
- Coordinate Gage R&R activities.
- Develop documentation for metrology equipment for compliance with plant systems, including calibration and preventive maintenance.
- Generate metrology work instructions for equipment, fixtures and Gage R&R.
- Generate validation documentation for installation and operational qualifications.
- Interface with suppliers and plant customers.
- Develop specifications and procurement of new metrology equipment.
Requirements
Engineering Honours degree. - Superior knowledge of digital precision measuring equipment including CMM and Optical Smart Scope.
- 5+ years experience with CMM and optical measurements.
- 2+ years experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment, ideally medical devices.
- Experience with injection moulding is an advantage, as is previous experience of measuring rigid plasti ccomponents to tight tolerances.
- Excellent analytical and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrated high level of statistical knowledge, including process capability, Gage R&R, and statistical software packages.
- Excellent report writing capability, including IQ, OQ validations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a flexible and innovative approach to work.
